Do you know your purpose in life?
Bit of a scary word that one, purpose. It’s got so much weight behind it, doesn’t it?
Purpose; also posed as the following question – What is it that I am solely put on this earth to do?
Woah.
Heavy.
How am I supposed to know that?
How am I supposed to know what my vocation or message or legacy for this world is?
I have some bad news.
I don’t have the answers.
Only YOU have the answers. (And believe me; you do actually have the answers.)
I can, however, make some suggestions on how to start exploring what you’re most passionate about and therefore what your message might be for the world.
Here are my suggestions;
Take a course – short course, long course, free course, paid course. Whatever tickles your fancy. Start with a community college course if the thought of committing to anything greater is all too much.
Do stuff – join things, read things, go to things. Find something that interests you and do it.
Ask your mum what it was that you loved doing when you were younger. There may be clues there. Sometimes in the pursuit of the life we are supposed to have, we lose the life we could have.
Reflect on what pushes your buttons. Perhaps there’s something that infuriates you enough to propel you into action? Perhaps you’re already taking small steps towards that? Perhaps they just need to be bigger now?
Sit in silence. We are so ‘busy’ these days. We run from pillar to post without space in between and we do not realise that it is in that space that we are able to hear the voice from within that speaks to us all the time. If only we gave the poor little voice a chance. Maybe it’s telling you something? Listen.
Reflect on big life events. Pin point major happenings in your life. Have there been stories from them that you are just bursting to tell? Are you denying us of hearing it?
What would you really like to see happen in this world? Plain. Simple. Make it happen.
If you had all the money in the world, what would you do instead? Now forget the money.
Right, that will keep you going for a while.
This is by no means an exhaustive list. I’m sure you have other suggestions on just how to do this. I would love to hear them. Tell me, tell me, tell me in the comments below.
With love
Lynda
PS. If you like what I have to say, I would love you to ‘like it’ or ‘share it’.
