Can I admit something to you?

I’m getting tired.

We’re in the last weeks before Christmas and I’m really starting to feel a gnawing, not just at my body, but right through to my bones. I need rest. That’s all.

Every other coach I know is ‘ramping up’ in his or her business. Most coaches use this time to get really clear on their solid action plans for the next year and encourage their clients to do the same.

Many messages contain the words – ‘it’s your last chance’, ‘set yourself up for the next year so you start with a bang’, ‘it’s more important now THEN EVER’, and the all-important, ‘don’t give up’.

But if you’re taking yourself out of the race for the last couple of weeks, is it giving up? Is it really your last chance? And is it really terrible if you don’t start off the next year with a ‘bang’ because you haven’t exhausted yourself getting ready for that bang?

Christmas, to me, is a time for reflecting. For really getting clear on just what has been valuable in the last year and what could be valuable for the next. For really being grateful for the things that have had an evolutionary, if not revolutionary, impact on our lives in the last 12 months and leveraging that for the next.

I don’t feel the need to do this in any hurried way. I don’t feel the need to squeeze one more thing in and be scare mongered into thinking that I have hardly any time left. The calendar will tick over anyway. Do I want it to tick over in a hurried, frenzied mess ensuring that I start the year with a mediocre performance because I’m not refreshed?

Or do I want it to tick over feeling calm, serene and relaxed so that the actions I do plan to put into place are ones with conviction and clarity?

I am quite partial to the latter.

And I’m certainly not a fan of not paying attention to my body and allowing it the rest it needs.

How do you feel in the wind down towards the end of the year? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

With love

Lynda
