Tom Foolery Part 2
How did you go telling Tom to take a hike on Monday? (And then Tuesday, and Wednesday, and… it takes practice :))
Did you at least listen to your heart a bit and get a little clearer on your message?
If you’ve got your message, AWESOME. (High five’s and whoop, whoop’s from me to you.)
Now what do you do with it?
For Buddha’s sake, don’t ignore it!
Personally, I did. I muffled that message for an eon.
I have something to say! But what does Tom Foolery have to do with it?
I have something to say!
And so do you. We all do.
We all have a special message to share with the world. A message made up of all our talents, experiences, memories, life’s lessons learned and just our all-round specialness. A message that is just bursting at the seams to be heard and if not shared is a complete and utter denial to – no, TRAVESTY for – the people who really need to hear it. The problem is we overshadow this message with Tom Foolery. Tom Foolery, also known as ego, negative thoughts, self- doubt and what we think we ‘should’ be doing with our lives, is usually dictated through the head and not the heart.
Where there’s a WILL, there’s a FEAR
I was watching Green Lantern recently. (Please suspend all judgment until you’ve heard me out *wink*) As many comic book stories or hero’s journeys go, there is a moral message underlying all the lycra and special effects. With this particular story, the planet Oa (is powered by WILL and their enemy (and coincidently enemy to the entire galaxy), Paralax, is powered by FEAR.
With the aim of taking over the universe (as you would expect), Paralax (fear) must destroy Oa (will), but not without going via the planet Earth first. In its quest to grow and become victorious, Paralax (fear) literally feeds off the souls of those it encounters. Enter Hal, our hero, “Green Lantern” and human in this piece, who in order to succeed must use his will to overcome fear. Of course Hal wins, but not without succumbing to some very real doubt, of which his child hood sweetheart, Carol, quickly slaps out of him by asking some laser like questions such as, “So, are you just going to give up? Walk away? Allow someone else to do it? Not finish!!??”
The Birth of a Corporate Hippie
Allow me to introduce myself – I’m Lynda Bayada – ex corporate, current teacher, aspiring business woman, constant student, budding priestess and newly discovered writer.Nearing on three years ago now, I left the corporate space and my role as a project manager in order to pursue a pipe dream – to own and run my own coaching business. Initial advice said, “Go with what you know”. So I did, and reSOULve was born. At first I was still getting my corporate on. I was focussing on leadership in big organisations. I lobbied, pitched and exhausted myself doing free stuff for those I knew back in that world and I networked within an inch of my life. Despite my efforts, something was amiss…it wasn’t working. It wasn’t me anymore. A year later and I’d jumped into partnership with someone I thought was brilliant. Turns out, we weren’t brilliant together. That particular venture – Sundari Soul – focussed on personal evolution and spirituality. Whisking women away from their roles as mothers, wives, daughters, sisters, friends and lovers, we journeyed to
